Computing Infrastructure Overview

ASETS has a long history as an early adopter of advanced computing technologies. Over the years, we have gained substantial expertise in designing and implementing appropriate technological solutions. Our team possesses the knowledge required to architect and maintain the computational systems that support data management, spatial modeling, and advanced analysis.

To meet the demands of current and future projects, ASETS has developed and maintains a robust server and workstation infrastructure. At present, our environment consists of 15 dedicated servers and a series of high-performance workstations that collectively support daily operations.

Server Infrastructure

The ASETS server environment has been carefully designed to support scalability, reliability, and specialized workflows. Current infrastructure includes:

  • Backup-to-Disk System – Multi-terabyte storage array providing enterprise-wide backup services for all servers and workstations

  • Mail Server – Dedicated system supporting multiple domains for organizational communication

  • Web Hosting Servers – Dedicated platforms hosting multiple internal and external domains

  • Database Hosting Servers – Supporting both relational databases and spatially enabled geo-databases (RDBMS + spatial extensions)

  • Map Server Hosting – Optimized environment for GIS data delivery and online mapping applications

  • Data Storage Servers – High-capacity storage for active projects, research datasets, and archival purposes

Software Environment

ASETS supports a wide range of specialized software platforms for spatial analysis, data management, development, and design:

  • Geospatial Tools (ESRI Suite):
    • ArcMap
    • Arc Workstation
    • ArcGIS Server
    • SDE (Spatial Database Engine)
    • IMS (Internet Map Server)

  • Design & Visualization (Adobe Suite):
    • Photoshop
    • Illustrator
    • InDesign
    • Acrobat

  • Software Development:
    • Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 (VB, C#, ASP)

  • Database Systems (RDBMS):
    • Oracle
    • PostgreSQL
    • MySQL
