The invasive species reporting capabilities of MISIN were launched to coincide with the kickoff of the Stewardship Network’s 2009 Garlic Mustard Pull.

The Stewardship Network is a grassroots cooperative organization working to protect, restore, and manage Michigan’s natural lands and waters. It helps individuals, organizations, and businesses manage specific sites through sharing ideas, resources, and information.

The first 2009 garlic mustard pull will be held at DeVries Nature Center in Shiawassee County.

Data on the locations of the garlic mustard infestations will be added to the MISIN database on invasive species in an atempt to increase the understanding of the distribution of invasives within the state.

ASETS is the lead developer of the MISIN mapping and data management system. We are cooperating with the Landis Lab at MSU and the Michigan Natural Features Inventory in the development of this important invasives project.
